🇨🇦 Canada Day Celebrations in Markerville kicked off with the MINI-MARKET 10:00 am – 4:00 pm! The weather cooperated with some blue sky peeking out, creating a wonderful outdoor market vibe.
Diana Steer Arts, Eve’s Brush & Needle, Hanna’s Designs, and Bea’s Creations were lined up along the east side of the Creamery Courtyard in pop-up tents. SGSIS also continued their “Art & Jumble Sale”, with a tent set up in the west corner of the courtyard by the Creamery.
🇨🇦 Canada Day in Markerville – THE BBQ 12:00 – 3:00 pm
The sun shone most of the day, from the Mini-Market, Canada Day cake, poetry reading, and free concert…helping to make the day a success! By 4:30 pm the clouds and mosquitos were settling in! Thank you to everyone who came out to enjoy July 1st in our outdoor courtyard. And thanks to the volunteers and staff for keeping the food coming, and the day’s itinerary on course.
🇨🇦 Canada Day in Markerville – STUART MCKAY POETRY READING 3:00 pm
Stuart was staying at the Buttermaker’s House as the current artist-in-residence. He read “Canada” by Stephan G. Stephansson, and shared several original poems as people gathered on the Red Tent benches to enjoy the Canada Day cake.
🇨🇦 Canada Day in Markerville – FREE CONCERT 3:30 pm
MARY ANNE MESSAGE performed on the Creamery stage in the afternoon to wind up the day. She brought Greg Deruchie (aka Spangler) from her band Mixed Messages, and also a surprise guest. 11-year-old Asher MacLennan joined in at the end of the day on “Royals” by Lorde, and “The Kids Aren’t Alright” by Offspring!
Canada Day visitors enjoyed the courtyard, finishing off Canada Day Cake in anticipation for the stage entertainment starting soon.
