Hillman Family

Herman and Margaret Hillman homesteaded in the Hola District in 1900. They had 5 children, John, Lena, Joe, Harry and Peter.

Their eldest is pictured here on his wedding day. John married Dora Eymundson (daughter of Kris Johannson) on May 5, 1917 in the Markerville Lutheran Church. Dora was the widow of Hannes Eymundson (d. 1915). They had 2 daughters, Johanna (Hanna) and Christiana (Shanna).

John and Dora had 7 children, Clifford, Evelyn, Elmer, Doris, Bernese, June and Marilyn.

Sundial Time Change Procedure

Daylight Saving Time is almost here, and once again Historic Markerville is looking for a few dedicated volunteers to help move our Creamery Courtyard sundial ahead by one hour.

Anyone interested in assisting should first watch the short training video linked below, which outlines the proper tools and procedure required for this task.

If you’ve ever wanted to be part of one of Markerville’s most time-honoured traditions, now is your chance!
